Introduction
The Image framing and correction
dialog allows several actions :
- Image framing (selecting a part of the image).
- Image rotation (changing or restoring the orientation
(portrait/landscape)).
- Image correction (changing the color and/or exposure
parameters).
The image settings are per shot.
This means that every shot has its own settings and the path
from one shot to another defines a path from one group of
settings to another, creating a shot animation: it's a
“Ken Burns” effect. Here are some possibilities:
- Zooming in on a portion of the image
- Scrolling of a portion from one image to another
- Brightening or darkening of a portion of the image
- etc...
This dialog is called from
the slide
properties dialog box when you click the button
Description of the dialog
Framing

|
The framing of an image
is defined by 5 values:
The horizontal position from the left (X). This
position is expressed as a percentage (%) of the
width of the image.
Example: if X=25 % then the 1st quarter to the left
of the image is eliminated.
The vertical position from the top of the image ( Y
). This position is expressed as a percentage (%) of
the height of the image.
Example: if Y=25 % the 1st quarter at the top of the
image is eliminated.
The width. This value is expressed as a percentage
(%) of the original width of the image.
Example: if Width=33 %, the re-framed image will
represent 1/3 of the original.
The height. This value is expressed as a percentage
(%) of the original height of the image.
Example: if Height=33 %, the re-framed image will
represent 1/3 of the original.
The rotation angle for the z axis. This position is
expressed in degrees.
Example: if Rotation=90°, the image is turned
by a quarter to the right.

You can use the + and - buttons in each input field to change
the settings, or directly enter values for the five parameters.
Alternatively, you can use the interactive zone to set the
framing with the mouse or the keyboard.
With the mouse:
- Click one of the handles and, with the mouse button down,
drag the mouse to modify the size (to increase or reduce the
part of the image to be kept).
- Click the image and, with the mouse button down, drag the
mouse to modify the part of the image which will be kept.
With the keyboard:
- Use the arrows to move the part of the image which will be
kept.
- Use SHIFT+arrows to move the upper left corner handle or
CTRL+arraows to move the lower right corner handle, to
change the size of the part of the image which will be kept.
Note: when the image does not correspond to the geometry of the
video to be produced, transparent zones appear. For example: an
4:3 image used in a 16:9 project will be shown by default with a
transparent zone on each side.
The following buttons help in image framing:

|
Enable
or disable the magnetic rulers: When rulers are enabled,
the mouse will automatically be attracted to the edges
of the photo, facilitating the framing. |

|
Set the
framing automatically to the width of the image. If the
image is too tall for the frame, the high and low parts
will be cut. |
 |
Set the
framing automatically to the height of the image. If the
image is too wide for the frame, the right and left
parts will be cut. |

|
Set the
framing automatically to the diagonal of the image. The
framing is adjusted in such a way that the image is
fully seen. |

|
Turn
the image to the left (to the nearest multiple of
90°). |
 |
Turn
the image to the right (to the nearest multiple of
90°). |
Image correction
Image correction allows you to brighten or darken the image to
correct the following three values:
- Luminosity
- Contrast
- Gamma
Image correction also allows you to modify the coloring of an
image by changing the strength of the primary colors:
For example:
- Red : Reducing the red component makes the image more
yellow - increasing it makes make the image more blue
- Green : Reducing the green component makes the image more
red - increasing it makes the image more green
- Blue : Reducing the green component makes the image more
red - increasing it makes the image more blue
All the combinations are possible. For example: you can increase
the red and reduce the green at the same time.
The results depend on the initial strength of the primary color
components of the source image.
Remark : For all correction settings, the

button allows the value to be reset to zero.
